This article, from the November 1918 edition of The Boiler Maker, describes the ten 2-10-10-2 Mallet steam locomotives, which was then just being delivered to the line by the American Locomotive Company (ALCO), to the Virginian Railway which planned to place the locomotives into service as pusher engines on the 13.4-mile grade between Elmore and Clarks Gap, West Virginia. The article provides some details about the huge boiler and provides side and cross-section elevation drawings of the boiler.
