This article, from the January 1906 edition of American Engineer and Railway Journal, describes the Deepwater Railway's 2-8-2 type steam locomotives which had just been built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works. The article provides some details of the specifications of the locomotives.

The Deepwater Railway was combined with the Tidewater Railway in 1907 to form the Virginian Railway. The 2-8-2 locomotives described in the article were classified as Class MA locomotives on the Virginian.
