Tunnel Widening on the Virginian Railway
This article, from the March 12, 1921 edition of Railway Review, describes the Virginian Railway's project to enlarge five single-track tunnels on Clarks Gap hill to double-track width that began in 1918 by W. W. Boxley and Company, of Roanoke, Virginia. The project also involved the double-tracking of five steel viaducts. The articles features numerous photos showing the construction techniques employed during the process of construction.
