An article in the March 14, 1917 edition of Engineering News described the 2-8-8-8-4 triple articulated steam locomotive that had been recently built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works for the Virginian Railway for use as a pusher engine on the Clarks Gap grade. The article featured a skeleton elevation drawing showing the locomotive's wheel spacing and specifications for the Virginian's triplex locomotive.
