This article, from the August 23, 1907 edition of The Railway Gazette, contains several drawings of viaducts, bridges, abutments, piers used on the Tidewater and Deepwater Railways which were combined in 1907 to form the Virginian Railway. The article provides details on bridge building techniques used by the company. Drawings of the Black Lick Creek Bridge near Princeton, West Virginia, the New River Bridge at Glen Lyn, Virginia, and drawbridge over the South Branch of Elizabeth River at Norfolk, Virginia are included in the article.
